Helio Mysto in the flesh

We’ll take a closer look at Helio’s latest hotness in the next few days, but we wanted to give you a few shots to drool over if you haven’t been able to score one of the first few units trickling out of the MVNO’s flagship stores this week. Needless to say, we’re pretty sure the Samsung-sourced Mysto is our new favorite Helio handset; we kinda knew it would be, seeing how lovely the similarly styled Ultra Edition 10.9 is. Click on, people!

Samsung’s P720, F490 make their video debut

Samsung’s new P720 and F490 handsets already made themselves known at a recent press event in the Ukraine but, given that we unfortunately couldn’t make the trek there ourselves, we didn’t exactly get that great a look at ‘em. Now thanks to the folks at Mobile-Notes, however, we’ve got some better pics of each of the handsets, along with a video that shows them off from every angle (check it out after the break). In case you missed the original announcement, the P720 and F490 pack 3 and 5-megapixel cameras respectively, along with dual SIM card slots on the former and a 432 x 240 touchscreen on the former. Both will also be available in the first half of next year, with the F490 trickling out sometime in the first quarter for $600, and the P720 following in Q2 for $500.

Samsung’s F490 / P720 handsets get outed

Although we came across Samsung’s SGH-F490 during a recent FCC scavenger hunt, it, along with the previously announced P720 were recently spotted at an event in Ukraine. Unfortunately, most is lost in translation, but we can gather that the latter will rock dual SIM card slots, a 3-megapixel camera, a 320 x 240 resolution display and a price tag upwards of $500. As for the F490, you can expect a 5-megapixel camera, touchscreen display (presumably with tactile feedback support), 432 x 240 resolution panel and an estimated cost of $600. Beyond that, it seems that we’ll have to wait before finding out more, but considering the Q2 / Q1 2008 release dates (respectively), we ought not be waiting long.

Helio Mysto

Helio has announced the launch of the slim, sexy Mysto for its Korean-language customers. This slider from Samsung shares the same design as the popular U600 for Europe. The Mysto is EV-DO data compatible with full HTML browser, a 2 megapixel camera and GPS. Besides, it also comes with music player, stereo Bluetooth, and a […]

Helio releases Mysto, Korean community comes first

Helio has gotten official with the slim, sexy Mysto slider — a branded, CDMA rendition of the Ultra Edition 10.9 that should ultimately become the MVNO’s top of the line handset just this side of the Ocean with a 2 megapixel camera, microSD expansion, and the now-typical GPS and EV-DO data. There’s a catch, though; it turns out that Helio will start out by soft launching the phone through its “Helio powered by SK Telecom” division that caters directly to the Korean American market. A full-scale launch is planned for January, but we’ve been told that folks should be able to approach staffers at Helio’s New York and Santa Monica stores with a nudge nudge, wink wink starting December 26 and get hooked up for $149 (even though no Mystos will be on display). Good luck, shoppers!

More details on Samsung’s t819 3G slider for T-Mobile

It looks like T-Mobile had a change of heart about the coloring of its next 3G device — Samsung’s t819 slider — after it hit the FCC recently, changing from a rather lovely medium blue to “coffee brown.” That got us to thinking: does a phone have to go back through the FCC when it changes color? Probably not; in fact, we can think of plenty of examples to the contrary. That seems a little odd considering that color formulations could almost certainly affect SAR ratings, but whatevs — point is, Boy Genius Report has a little more info on the midrange slider now. Besides the aforementioned color change, we now know that T-Mobile expects to start offloading this bad boy come January. Whether the carrier will actually start to admit that its 3G phones are 3G by then… well, that’s another story entirely.
