Samsung’s F700 to arrive on Verizon as SCH-U940?

Verizon Wireless customers, you may want to sit down for this one. Samsung’s oh-so-sexy SGH-F700, which is currently thrilling quite a few Vodafone customers, could be headed to The Network — and soon. According to Phone Arena, the Verizon variant of the F700 will be dubbed the SCH-U940, but actual details beyond that are scant. We are told that the unit will boast a 440 x 240 resolution touchscreen, QWERTY keyboard and a two-megapixel camera, but beyond that we’re left to wonder. No worries though, as the phone will reportedly be landing “in a few months,” so keep your eyes peeled, cool?

Visuals surface of Samsung’s bricklike “Solid”

In what appears to be homage to old school iDEN cellphones everywhere, Samsung looks to be preparing its latest phone for Orange, a rugged little beast appropriately named “Solid.” The important details are a little sparse at the moment, but we hear the device will sport a VGA camera and by the looks of the keypad, it will also have a speakerphone. If it’s real — and frankly, we have no good reason to suspect otherwise — it should hit Orange come December.

Samsung announces a737 3G slider for AT&T

With a slider and flip already in its Ultra-esque 3G AT&T lineup, it seemed like it was just a matter of time before Samsung pulled the trigger on a slider, too — and sho’ nuff, here it is. The a737 offers stereo Bluetooth, microSD expansion up to 4GB, HSDPA with quadband EDGE, and a 1.3 megapixel camera complete with Video Share support. At some 15-odd millimeters thick, it packs a little more junk than its a717 and a727 compadres, but at an on-contract asking price of $49.99, we’re willing to forgive and forget. Get it starting today in your choice of lime, orange, or blue, all with black accents.

Samsung adds vanilla SGH-A517 to AT&T’s lineup

You’ll have to forgive us for missing this launch a few days back, but really, is anyone too amped about this thing? Samsung’s SGH-A517 flip looks like a 3G handset, but that’s as far as it goes — it’s actually nothing more than a quadband EDGE piece with a meager 1.3 megapixel cam to do the shootin’ duties. On the upside, the A517 still features A2DP, a microSD slot, and external music controls, making it a great choice for mobile music on the cheap. Grab it now for $50 on contract after rebates.

Samsung patent app details wristwatch / cellphone hybrid

Generally speaking, mishmash concepts involving a cellphone and just about anything wearable haven’t exactly taken off, but if Maxwell Smart can do it, why can’t Samsung? In a recent patent application from the firm, a “wrist wearable type portable terminal” is described, which essentially acts as a wrist strap that functions as a cellphone holster. Granted, the idea could be problematic in a myriad ways — leading to public humiliation and a lack of broad compatibility with mobiles for starters — but we can’t fault ‘em for trying.

WM6 upgrade official for Samsung i600; BlackJack version imminent?

The whole Windows Mobile 6 upgrade issue for Samsung’s BlackJack is a little murky at the moment seeing how the BlackJack2 just got announced (come on, you just know AT&T would love to use Windows Mobile 6 as a selling point on the new model), but we’re cautiously encouraged here. The i600, the BlackJack’s European cousin, has just been blessed with an official WM6 ROM — which, coincidentally, we’re hoping looks nothing like the WM5 screen shots in Samsung’s promo pic. So yeah, go grab it if you’re lucky enough to be on an i600; meanwhile, adventurous i607 types can keep skulking around for an unofficial upgrade until AT&T gets its act together.

Samsung i760 unboxed

Several months and a few in the wild pics later, Verizon Wireless has gotten around to launching its latest Windows Mobile Professional device, the Samsung i760. Weighing in just under 5.3 ounces and measuring in at 2.28 x 4.49 x 0.77 inches, it’s one of the more compact PDAs available for the carrier. The i760 is packed with features like a 2.8 inch touchscreen LCD, 128MB of RAM and 64 MB of ROM, an EV-DO radio (sorry, no Rev. A here), Bluetooth 2.0 and WiFi connectivity, microSD expandable memory, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and a 1.3 megapixel camera. Enough with all this chit chat, though — how’s about some pics?

Helio’s Mysto: A Samsung U600 with EV-DO

Ok, here you go, the first rendering of Helio’s new Mysto — AKA, the Samsung SPH-A523. Looking every bit as fine as Samsung’s U600 Ultra Edition slider (on the right), the Mysto busts EV-DO data, GPS, stereo Bluetooth, and a 3.2 megapixel camera up under that QVGA display while maintaining the U600’s 10.9-mm thin profile. Date and price? In time friends, in time.
