Verizon’s Juke, Pearl, Venus and Voyager get outed

Apparently due to launch in a couple of weeks, Verizon is prepping a phone blitz of fairly epic proportions. The new Samsung Juke, BlackBerry Pearl, LG Venus and LG Voyager are due for simultaneous arrival on the market, and are sure to turn heads. On the far left is the “Juke,” Verizon’s name for that U470 we spotted a couple weeks ago, which is supposed to arrive with 2GB of storage, A2DP Bluetooth and a 1.3 megapixel camera. Next up is the “new variety” Pearl rumored since August, with a 2 megapixel camera, A2DP and a 3.5mm audio jack. One to the right is the dual screen “Venus” slider, also known as the LG VX8800. The phone rocks miniSD expansion, A2DP, a 2 megapixel camera and some interesting touchscreen capabilities, including vibration feedback. Finally we have the beast of the bunch on the far right, the LG Voyager, also known as the VX10000. The phone sports a large external touchscreen, along with a lateral-clamshell form factor that opens up into a QWERTY keyboard and another well-sized screen, both screens are QVGA. Verizon is bragging of a full HTML browser, along with the expected microSD expansion, 2 megapixel camera, A2DP and some built-in stereo speakers.

Samsung’s i640v for Vodafone caught on camera

Hot on the heels of its Christmas announcement, it turns out Vodafone teased with a preview of Samsung’s i640v at GITEX. Hoping to improve upon its predecessor, the just-released i620, newest model adds a WiFi radio under its hood along with GPS support. Add these key features in with Bluetooth 2.0, microSD storage, a 2.4-inch QVGA display all running on Windows Mobile 6 Standard, and we figure this device is built to please. There doesn’t seem to be any solid release info floating around just yet, but we can take a solid stab at the launch carrier, eh?

Verizon details aplenty: the U550, U700, and VX8800

Alright, we think can pretty clearly order these three by excitement factor and expect a minimal amount of disagreement. phoneArena’s pulled together a garden variety of new information on three upcoming models for Verizon: the U550 and U700 from Samsung along with the the VX8800 from LG. The U550 should succeed the U540 when it materializes in early 2008; as best as we can tell there’s nothing here to get too excited about unless midrange flips are your thing. The rumored U700 comes around a little sooner, apparently seeing availability early next month — and looking well deserving of its “Gleam” moniker, may we add. Finally, we learn the gorgeous VX8800 turns out to be equipped with a 2 megapixel camera (sans flash or autofocus), sports a leather-like rear to match its high end appearance, and should include two themes for those looking to get as far, far away from the standard Verizon theme as possible. Any guesses which model we find the most exciting?

Samsung’s GPS-equipped i780 “Treo-killer” revealed

Samsung seems to be working a little in reverse with its upcoming SGH-i780 Windows Mobile 6 handset, showing it first at GITEX, then providing shots to media a couple weeks later — all without an official press release or announcement. Fortunately, we have pretty much all the information we want about it at this point, save for one key detail: will it come to AT&T as the rumored BlackJack 2? Unlike the original BlackJack, the i780 runs the touchscreen-driven Professional variant of Windows Mobile, features an “optical mouse” on the d-pad that provides the user with an actual on-screen pointer, and features integrated WiFi and GPS. If we were the wagering sort, we’d guess that an AT&T variant of this sucker would lose the WiFi and trade Euro HSDPA radio hardware for its North American equivalent, but with integrated GPS, it still seems like it could be a worthwhile upgrade. Sweden apparently expects it in early 2008, though there’s no official word on launches elsewhere just yet.

Samsung’s S60-based SGH-i550 launched, admired

Samsung shows another trackball-enabled device but this one packs the S60, 3.1 UI, and not Windows Mobile under the hood. While we first saw this way back in July, the i550 is only now getting its release party — and we say, about time. Featuring triple-band GSM, HSDPA, GPS, 3.2 megapixel camera, 4 GB of memory expandability via microSD, and that lovely little trackball we’re just itching to get our thumbs on. No word on pricing details, but launch is apparently slated for November so here’s to the dream that we’re only days away from it’s Windows Mobile-enabled sibling’s launch.

Carphone Warehouse preps “Limited Collection” line of designer handsets

Carphone Warehouse is prepping a line of devices for its new “Limited Collection” line, an all-designer showcase for all that’s rehashed new in mobiles. The line will feature two handsets from designer Ted Baker, and one each from Mandarina Duck, Levi’s, and Porsche. We’re all for expensive, glossy new sets — ok, we’re sorta all for it — but with the exception of the Porsche (Sagem) and Levi’s (ModeLabs) sets, these are just same old, same old with expensive accessories and new color choices. Though, we have to hand it to one of the Ted Baker-branded devices, we dig its somewhat throwback name “needle” for its HTC Touch. The Levi’s and Ted Baker Button should land in October with the rest of the collection arriving in November. Hopfully we’ll see a pricing update soon.
