Samsung and Adidas working on SGH-F110 handset?

Although the SGH-F110 was initially believed to be a sure bet, things have since turned, as the German site Area Mobile has updated its article by removing the bulk of the text at Samsung’s request. Nevertheless, this could also mean that Sammy just wants the thing kept under wraps a bit longer, so here’s what we know so far. The black slider will reportedly boast quad-band GSM and EDGE connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0, a two-megapixel camera, microSD expansion slot, two-inch LCD, and a host of exercise-centric features such as a pedometer, heart rate monitor, distance / calorie burning calculator, and possibly a “voice coach” to keep you going just one more lap. Unsurprisingly, there’s no details on price nor availability, and we’re still not sure if the pictured design will stick if this thing does emerge, but there’s no time like the summer to bust out a fitness phone, eh?

Samsung’s i550 brings GPS navigation

Samsung is certainly busy with new goods lately, but we’re particularly thrilled by this, the Samsung i550. Samsung has / had another i550 which was a Palm-based flip from a few years ago, thankfully this handset won’t be repeating that OS choice. Apparently packing GPS — the key for it sits to the right of the right softkey — runs S60, has a 3.2 megapixel cam, HSDPA — no flavor mentioned — 128MB RAM, and all packed in a 115 x 53 13.8 mm package. The pic does look a bit off to us, we’re wondering why the lower half — with the Sony Ericsson-styled keys — has what looks like a seam running across the handset, could this be a slider of some sort? The d-pad also seems like it is using a trackball, though unfortunately until we get some better shots — or a press release — we’ll have to leave it all up the air. No word on an arrival time, price of what carriers will pick this up, but we’ll be watching things as they unfold so you won’t need to.

Samsung’s SGH-G800: another 5 megapixel slider?

For better or worse, it seems 5 megapixel sensors may be on the cusp of supplanting smaller units on high-end featurephones, and naturally, Samsung’s on the forefront of the trend. Hot on the heels of the G600, the rumored G800 slider is said to feature a tri-band GSM radio with HSDPA, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD expansion, a lovely 2.4 inch QVGA OLED display, xenon flash, and a sliding lens cover (a la K800) to protect that mighty cam. We’ve no idea when or where this thing might launch, but without that critical fourth band, the US seems like a long shot.

Samsung intros SGH-L600 slider in purple

More goodies from Samsung have popped up, but this time in the form of the popsicle purple SGH-L600. Color choices are personal things, choice is always grand, but in this case — at least from what we’re seeing here — you can have any color as long as it is purple. Featuring a 2 megapixel shooter, 200 x 176 display, microSD expansion, FM radio, and with 3.5 hours talk or 220 hours standby time rounding out the bill. Pretty basic stuff and we’re positive the price will reflect that, and all the better, as it will leave you with money for a case, spray paint, or even crayons to camouflage this thing. As the name hints, this will be a GSM handset with EDGE, but the bands are something of a mystery right now, but we’ll fill in the gaps when we can

Samsung’s SGH-260 UMA handset

Yeah, we’re feeling the new Samsung SGH-260’s decidedly vanilla vibe too, but it’s what’s inside that counts, and that’s UMA. No word on frequencies on the GSM side, but it does sport WiFi, EDGE, a 2 megapixel clicker, 256MB of internal memory with microSD expansion, and a 320 x 240 display. No word if we’ll see this over here, but if we do, all signs point to T-Mobile as its most likely landing spot.

Samsung’s touchscreen-based SGH-P520 gets legit

First comes the FCC leak, then comes a hunch, and just as fate would have it, now it’s time to celebrate the fact that Samsung’s SGH-P520 is apparently a tad more than a figment of one’s imagination. Reportedly, this sexy handset will indeed be making its way onto store shelves, and rather than featuring an oh-so-typical keypad, users will rely solely on a touchscreen to navigate the GUI. Specs wise, it will boast a 2.6-inch 320 x 240 resolution LCD, GSM / EDGE connectivity, a three-megapixel camera, 50MB of internal memory, Bluetooth / WiFi, and a microSD card slot to boot. No word just yet on pricing nor availability, but do click on for one last shot.

T-Mobile to trot out Nokia 2610 and Samsung t219s

T-Mobile’s newly expunged Samsung t219s seems like an ordinary, low-end Sammy flip with nothing particularly striking about it. That is, until one discovers the “network address book” inside the menu system. Maybe that “s” suffix has some meaning, after all. Is this a new (yet unannounced) feature that allows contact sharing via SMS? If so, that would be hailed as a semi-masterpiece. We’re still fond of Bluetoothing contacts across the room, but hey — that’s not always possible. Anyhoo, the Nokia 2610, which includes myFaves support like the t219s, cements Nokia’s place as the entry-level candybar of choice and has the humdrum, standard feature set expected for en entry-level Nokia on T-Mobile. No prices on these yet, but we’re figuring they’ll be freebies with a contract.

Update: Looks like the “network address book” feature is a standard phone book backup over the network, kinda like what AT&T already offers. According to Boy Genius, the network address book is “just an automatic backup for contacts, so in case you lose the phone, it will automatically download the contacts in your new phone” — as long as the new phone also supports it, of course.

Like the Prada, but not: Samsung’s SGH-P520?

We can’t confirm the authenticity of this thing just yet, but we can confirm that this particular model number passed through the FCC not long ago — so it’s plausible that this is the real deal. The SGH-P520 appears to be Samsung’s nod to the ever-growing finger-friendly touchscreen segment, offering a Prada-esque experience (from that other Korean manufacturer, of course) with decent specs to match. Highlights are said to include a 3 megapixel camera, 50MB of onboard storage with microSD expansion, QVGA display (we woulda hoped for a little more, honestly), A2DP, EDGE data, and WiFi with UMA support in-box. There’s no official word on when or where this thing might drop — but with a triband GSM radio on board, it sure ain’t launching here.

Hands-on with the Samsung SGH-U100 Ultra Edition II

A heck of a lot of phones pass through our grubby hands in the course of an average week, so it usually takes something of a minor miracle to get a rise out of us with a new handset. Well, Samsung, ya did it — your crazy U100 is positively the most ridiculous feat of phone manufacturing we’ve seen to date. It’s hard to accurately express with words or even pictures just how thin this thing feels in the hand. Whether that’s a good thing, well… we reckon that’s a matter of personal taste, but needless to say, we don’t think this one would survive even a single smashing or bending unscathed (as one observer astutely noted, “this is a purse phone, not a pocket phone”). Despite its minimal girth, the Ultra Edition 5.9 sacrifices virtually nothing, offering A2DP, 80MB of onboard storage (no expansion slot, sadly), a 3.2 megapixel cam, and even TV out. The tri-band radio is a bit of a bummer, but we still found ourselves rocking out with four or five bars of signal strength virtually everywhere we went. Color us impressed!

A special thanks goes out to Wireless Imports for the hookup on this one!
